2020 is rapidly approaching and we are just going to hop right on the bandwagon with NEW YEAR. NEW YOU. Better yet, NEW DECADE. NEW YOU!!!
This time of year can be extremely exciting, dreaming up of your goals for the new year and new decade, but does anyone else feel a little nervous when planning for the New Year?
We often get so fixated on our goals and the changes we want to see in our lives that when it actually comes to making those dreams a reality… we get stuck! YIKES. And a few months down the road we find that paper with our goals and doodles on it and think “How have I not even made a dent in these yet?”
WELL we are here to help you create realistic goals and come up with a plan to Make. Them. Stick.
BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF AND PICK GOALS THAT BEST SUITED FOR YOU!
Capitalize, underline, and highlight the word Y-O-U in that sentence! You will never fully achieve a goal that someone else is wanting for you more than you want for yourself. Sure, you may want to lose that excess holiday weight BUT your mom or husband meal planning and creating a workout plan for you may not help you in the long run. Sorry, sister, you have to do it yourself. For YOU!
Get clear on the changes you want to see in your life whether it is in your Career, Home Life, Relationship, or Health!
STICK TO ONE THING!
Write out a list of 3-5 Goals for the year – they can be lose these last 5 lbs, redecorate my master bedroom, get my kids eating healthier, whole foods, or start planning date nights 3 times a month. These are goals that require some action and plan in place to follow through! Pick O-N-E to focus on first until it becomes so second nature and easy to follow and you can then focus on your next goal.
STICK TO THE SMART METHOD.
S= Specific
M= Measurable
A= Achievable
R= Relevant
T= Time-based
Once you have you rough draft of goals down, implement the SMART method. Get specific with what you want, come up with a plan, and find a way to measure your progress. If planning for Date Nights each month is your first goal, get out a Calendar, brainstorm 3 best dates in the month of January that you know you and your hubby could lock down at least 2-3 hours for dinner, movie, it can even be a day date! If finding a babysitter is not easily available or not in the budget 3 times in January try to plan a fun movie night in after the kiddos go to bed. PJs recommended! Put it on the Calendar and Don’t Cancel.

PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION.
Give yourself some grace. You will most likely stumble a little and some days will be harder than the rest but what counts is how you pick yourself up and continue to press on and up! Don’t give up on those goals!
